I am a person who likes to create. Whether it be sewing, painting, re-decorating, I make the time to change what I do not like about my surroundings. I am always looking for ways to improve what I see around me. If it means a trip to the hobby or craft store I am up for it. I’ve made shelves, sewed cushion covers, handbags, napkins, placemats, and painted more pieces of furniture than I ever thought I would.
At my former job at a major construction company I enjoyed creating direct mail pamphlets. And found myself looking for ways to creative even in a position that I held at a bank. I made maps and handouts of my own volition and found it very rewarding. Since my superiors were pleased with my work, I was bitten by the bug to find work which would let me create and please clients. Hence my desire now to continue creating using the computer medium
I decided to learn about web design because I love to create. However, I am also cognizant that web designing is not only my own creation. Web designing is an amalgam of client needs and wants, with the focus of expressing them creatively. It is important for the designer to keep in mind the purpose and meaning of the web page, not just to create a good looking one.
There are many opinions regarding page layout. I am of the opinion that most computer users now have wide screens and the use of A4 size layouts make for inconvenient viewing and requires a fair amount of user scrolling.
HTML source should also be written in a simple form to allow for visually impaired browser reading. If there is too much garbling, this browser software cannot do it’s job properly.
A beautiful looking homepage is not worth anything if it’s purpose is useless. Effort should always be made to make a page that is eye-catching, accessible, and usable. If these are kept in balance, then search engine optimization is also achieved.
Interactive movies are great for adding to the attractiveness of a page. But, the user should have the ability to control the playing, pausing, and stopping of the movie.
I have two elementary school aged daughters. Since they commute to school on their own now I have more time to enjoy my free-time. I am a homebody by nature and prefer to work from the home. But, I am happy to say that my husband and friends drag me out from time to time and I enjoy the change of scenery.
